I love recipes that are quick but full of flavor. This version comes from my sister’s kitchen and has been in our family for more than 25 years. It appears at every barbecue and whenever I make pulled pork sandwiches. Perfect for parties, holidays, tailgates, and casual gatherings.

Ingredients
  • 8 cups shredded cabbage (a bagged coleslaw mix with carrots works well)
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 large apple, chopped (or 2 medium apples; Granny Smith or your favorite)
  • 1 cup Marzetti® Original Slaw Dressing (or make your own)

Directions

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, dried cranberries, chopped apple, and slaw dressing. Toss until everything is evenly coated. Chill in the refrigerator about one hour to let the flavors meld, then serve and enjoy.
Variations
  • Mix half shredded cabbage and half broccoli slaw for a different texture and flavor.
  • If you don’t have dried cranberries, try dried cherries or raisins instead.
  • Add nuts such as chopped pecans or sliced almonds for crunch.
Tips
  • The sweet-tangy Marzetti® Original Slaw Dressing pairs beautifully with the cranberries and apple. You can also use a homemade dressing made with mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, and a touch of mustard if you prefer.
  • Adjust the amounts of dressing, apple, and cranberries to suit your taste — add more fruit for sweetness or more dressing for creaminess.

This coleslaw is especially tasty on top of pulled pork sandwiches.
