Hello everyone! Thank you for all the wonderful feedback on my YouTube dehydrating videos. This week I added a new video showing how I dehydrate ground beef to save both money and freezer space. Properly dehydrated ground beef is shelf-stable, lightweight, and rehydrates very well — I honestly can’t tell the difference after rehydration.

Watch until the end of the video to see how the ground beef looks after rehydrating. Below are the products I used for this process.

Product links and notes:

I use an Excalibur 9-tray dehydrator with a timer. It’s a reliable, easy-to-use model that works well for dehydrating ground beef and many other foods. To see the model I have, click here.

To catch small bits and make cleanup easier, I place dehydrator fruit leather sheets on the bottom tray. The sheets come in packs and are inexpensive; you can find them here: dehydrator sheets.

To store dehydrated meat long term I vacuum-seal mason jars. I use a FoodSaver unit with a wide-mouth mason jar attachment for secure, airtight storage. The vacuum-seal method helps preserve flavor and extend shelf life.
