Air Fryer Roasted Broccoli in the basket of the air fryer after cooking

Quick and easy

You can roast broccoli in the air fryer in just a few minutes and get tender, slightly browned florets. I like to keep roasted vegetables on hand to snack on while I finish other dishes — they help curb less-healthy snacking.

For a simple snack, serve this with a light dip like cottage cheese ranch.

Simple veggie side dish

Air frying concentrates flavor and gives the broccoli a pleasant roast. Serve it alongside roasted or twice-baked potatoes, toss it into salads or pasta, or add it to casseroles for extra texture and flavor. It also makes a great snack on its own.

For the love of broccoli

There are many ways to enjoy broccoli. If you prefer oven or stovetop methods, try oven-roasted or caramelized broccoli recipes. The air fryer version is fast, vegan, gluten-free, and keeps things simple and healthy.

Air Fryer benefits

The air fryer works like a compact oven that heats quickly and cooks food faster than a full-size oven. It uses less energy to preheat and won’t warm the kitchen as much, making it convenient for small meals and sides.

Recipe tips

Use about a pound of broccoli, cut into similar-sized florets so they cook evenly. The stalk is edible — peel and slice it if you want to use it. Keep the air fryer basket from becoming too crowded; overcrowding causes steaming instead of browning. The broccoli will shrink during cooking, so a full basket at first will look much smaller when done.

Small florets typically take 5–6 minutes; larger pieces may need up to 8–10 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through and check for the level of browning you prefer. If your air fryer is small, cook in two batches.

Gussy up your veggies

Finish the broccoli with freshly grated Parmesan, a squeeze of lemon, or a sprinkle of lemon pepper. Or keep it simple with just salt and pepper for a clean, green side.
