Crispy Air Fryer Hash Brown Patties Recipe

Frozen hash brown patties cooked in an air fryer are a fast, convenient option for breakfast or a snack—perfect for busy mornings or when you don’t want to cook from scratch.

I often serve them with air fryer soft boiled eggs and air fryer roasted vegetables for a complete meal. These ready-made patties are a great time-saver; if you prefer homemade, try making shredded hash browns from scratch in the air fryer.

I usually buy the Trader Joe’s patties, but any store-bought brand will work well. Serve with ketchup, a favorite dip, or pair with eggs, sautéed veggies and sausages for a heartier breakfast.

Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (about 390–400°F) for 3–4 minutes.

Place the hash brown patties in a single layer in the basket. I usually fit 3–4 patties per batch in my air fryer; for one person 1–2 patties are enough.

Air fry at 200°C (about 400°F) for 10–12 minutes, until the patties are golden brown. For extra crunch, cook up to 14 minutes. Flip once halfway through cooking for even crisping.

Check on them after 10 minutes; cooking time can vary with air fryer model and patty size.

I tested this method in a Cosori air fryer and can cook six patties in one go. For a family of four I usually do two batches.

Storage Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat in the air fryer. Consume within two days for best quality.

FAQs

1. Should I thaw frozen hash browns before cooking in the air fryer?

No. Thawing is not necessary; cooking from frozen gives crisp, evenly cooked patties.

2. Do I need to add oil to cook frozen hash browns?

Most frozen patties are pre-cooked with oil and don’t require additional oil when air frying. If you prefer a slightly crisper exterior, you can lightly spray them, but it’s usually unnecessary.
