Ingredient notes

Grapefruit – Peel and remove the pith with a knife for a cleaner taste and easier blending.

Strawberries – Fresh or frozen both work. Frozen strawberries make the smoothie thicker and colder.

Oats – Use rolled/old-fashioned oats. Choose certified gluten-free oats to keep the recipe gluten free.

Syrup – Optional. The smoothie is naturally sweet from fruit, but 1–2 tablespoons of maple syrup can be added if you prefer it sweeter.

Mint – Highly recommended. A couple of mint leaves brighten the flavor and elevate the overall profile.

Milk – Any plant milk works—almond, oat, soy, etc. Use what you have on hand.

Step-by-step instructions

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth, about one minute. If you used refrigerated strawberries instead of frozen, add 3–5 ice cubes to chill and thicken the drink.

Tips and tricks

Cashew prep. Soaking cashews makes them blend extra-silky, but it’s not required here—just blend for at least one full minute for a smooth texture.

Blender choice. A high-powered blender yields creamier results and handles nuts and ice with ease. If you blend smoothies often, investing in a reliable blender will make a noticeable difference.
