Christmas Snowman Hat Cookies
Baking and decorating seasonal treats is a favorite holiday activity, especially with children. These snowman hat cookies are perfect because they use store-bought components and only take a short time to assemble. Kids can help dip, attach and decorate, and the finished cookies make a festive addition to party platters or classroom parties.
Ingredients Needed
You only need five ingredients to make these adorable snowman hat cookies.
- Cookies – Keebler Grasshopper cookies (or similar round chocolate cookies).
- Marshmallows – large marshmallows.
- Chocolate – milk chocolate melting wafers or chocolate chips for melting.
- Candies – small red candies such as mini red M&M’s and holly-shaped sprinkles for decoration.

How To Make Snowman Cookies
This project takes about 15–30 minutes from start to finish and is easy enough for helpers of all ages.
- Melt the chocolate: Use a microwave in short bursts, stirring between intervals, or melt gently in a double boiler until smooth.
- Prepare the marshmallows: Dip each marshmallow about three-quarters of the way into the melted chocolate, leaving a band of white at the top to look like the snowman’s face. Shake off excess and set aside to firm up slightly.
- Attach marshmallows to cookies: Spoon a small dollop of melted chocolate onto the center of each Grasshopper cookie and press a marshmallow onto it so it stands like a hat.
- Decorate: Put some melted chocolate into a piping bag or a small resealable bag with the corner snipped off. Use it as “glue” to attach a red mini candy to the center of the marshmallow’s white band and add holly sprinkles (one on each side) for leaves. Repeat until all cookies are decorated.
- Set to harden: Let the cookies sit undisturbed for 20–30 minutes so the chocolate fully hardens.
